AsOne Coworking

AsOne Coworking is a new coworking serviced office space comprising a collection of shipping containers set within the historic RS&S Woollen Mills in Rutland Street, Newtown (Geelong).

The sustainable modular offices touch lightly on the footprint of the historic warehouse which features lofty saw tooth roof and South-facing clerestory glazing. The outside is brought inside with offices overlooking internal gardens and courtyards, providing quiet contemplation and spaces to come together, while, with careful design giving privacy where needed.

The layout comprises 9 × 20 ft high cube side opening shipping containers, 5 of which are single units and 4 which are joined together to create 2 x larger suites, including a professional podcasting studio.

Made from more traditional building materials is the large open plan lounge, kitchen and meeting area which also features short term coworking spaces, as well as large and small meeting rooms.

The materials palette celebrates the history of the site as the Geelong Returned Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Woollen and Worsted Co-operative Manufacturing Company Ltd which produced fine quality textiles from 1920. New internal walls are lined with 100% Australian made woollen felt insulation and new glazing features historic decal photographs.

All spaces have been thoughtfully designed and detailed to create functional and fully accessible high-tech workspaces with thermal and acoustic comfort. Set within the voluminous historic warehouse envelope, the new spaces consistently welcome natural light and lush greenery, resulting in a visual feast of inspiring vistas.
